Eligibility to Study in USA

Eligibility to Study in USA

For higher education in the USA, international students must take competitive examinations like the SAT, TOEFL, GMAT, and GRE. In addition, students pursuing subject-specific coursework must pass tests like the PCAT, VCAT, MCAT, and DAT.

Language Proficiency Test

This section will discuss the language requirements for Nepali students who want to study in the United States.

IELTS: IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an English test for people who want to study, move, or get a job. Every year, more than 3 million people take this test. More than 11,000 employers, schools, universities, and immigration agencies worldwide accept IELTS. More than 3,400 institutions in the US buy IELTS, including boarding schools and undergraduate, graduate, professional, and law programs.

TOEFL: TOEFL is the most popular test of English skills, and most American universities accept it. The TOEFL is a test of how well students can use and understand the English language in college and university settings. Anyone can take this test as many times as they want. The Educational Testing Service (ETS) is in charge of this test. The ETS runs the test and makes the test paper.

Students should check carefully to ensure they meet the entry requirements of the university or college they want to attend, then take the test correctly. Some educational institutions only accept specific tests, while others let students take any tests they want. So, students should check with the university they want to go to before studying for the test.

General Exams (Scholarship Test)

In this part, we’ll tell you which test you need to take to study in the USA. and who can study in the US.

GRE: Students who want to attend graduate school to get an MA or MS must also take the Graduate Record Examination. Also, a lot of business schools use GRE scores to decide who gets into their MBA, business, or management programs.

GMAT: GMAT stands for the Graduate Management Admission Test. People who want to get an MBA or take courses in business or management take this test. The candidates are judged on their English, math, and thinking skills.

LSAT: The Law School Admission Test, or LSAT, is a standard test that students who want to go to law school take. Reading skills and verbal reasoning skills are used to judge the students.

SAT: The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) measures how well a student can read and write, essential skills for college. This test measures how well the candidates can solve problems, a skill they learned in school and will continue to use in college. Students who have finished their schooling or are still in high school and want to get into UG courses usually take the SAT.

Application Requirements

Aside from the tests listed above, there are other things you need to do to apply to schools in the USA.

Letter of Recommendation: When applying to universities, students also need a Letter of recommendation (LOR). The letter of recommendation should come from a teacher at your previous school.

Statement of Purpose: Along with the LOR, students must also send a Statement of Purpose that talks about their accomplishments and what they’ve learned. Some universities ask for an Admission Essay instead of a Statement of Purpose. Usually, if you want to take an MBA course, you must write essays.

In addition to the above, students who want to take undergraduate courses should have completed 10+2. Also, people who wish to take graduate courses must have 16 years of schooling. Some schools accept 15 years of education, but you should check before you apply to a university. In addition to all of this, students must also show proof of money to universities to get in. Few universities let students in without asking for money, but in most cases, students have to show proof of funds.

Resume/CV: Universities, colleges, and other institutions need your CV. You need to make a professional resume or CV and fill out an application to get in. Except for a few places, most institutions require it.

Cut Off for Exams
All prominent universities and colleges also have minimum scores students must get on different tests. Checking the GMAT Cutoff, GRE Cutoff, SAT Cutoff, and TOEFL Cutoff before applying to a university is a good idea. Then, candidates can start preparing for the tests in the right way.
